MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Eagle resigned from Jeremy Cobyn's Shadow Cabinet on June 27, following the UK referendum on exit from the European Union.
"On Monday morning I will announce my candidature for Leader of the Labour Party. I will explain my vision for the country and the difference a strong Labour Party can make," Eagle said in a statement, as quoted by the Guardian.
She will be one of the contenders for the top spot in the party, thus challenging Corbyn who said he would not step down from the party's leadership post despite being voted last week with no confidence by his fellow party colleagues.
