North Korea on Monday threatened with “physical action” in response to the US missile defense system deployment in South Korea, according to media reports.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — On Friday, Washington and Seoul announced that the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) system will be used to counter the threat from Pyongyang amid Noth Korea’s growing nuclear and ballistic missile capabilities.

"Our military is ready to ruthlessly take strikes against (the enemies) and turn them into a sea of fire if we are given orders at this moment," Pyongyang said in a statement, as quoted by the Yonhap news agency.

On Friday, South Korea and the United States announced they agreed to deploy the THAAD system with the US military stationed in South Korea to counter North Korea's missile threat. The THAAD system is designed to intercept short, medium and intermediate ballistic missiles at the terminal incoming stage.
