South Korea Issues Nationwide Encephalitis Warning
04:43 GMT 11.07.2016 (Updated: 04:47 GMT 11.07.2016) South Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Monday issued a nationwide encephalitis warning, urging residents to get vaccinated if needed and to pay attention to personal hygiene, local media reported.
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The health authority said that it had registered over 500 mosquitoes of the Culex tritaeniorhynchus species – the carriers of the disease — in the country, according to the Yonhap news agency.
The virus can cause acute inflammation of the brain, with severe cases leading to death.
