US Senator Bernie Sanders announced on Tuesday his endorsement of former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for president of the United States.

"Secretary Clinton has won the Democratic nominating process," Sanders stated in a joint campaign event with Clinton. "I intend to do everything I can to make certain she will be the next President of the United States."

"I think we can all agree that much more needs to be done. Too many americans are still left behind, they ignored. There are too much poverty," Bernie Sanders said.

"Hillary Clinton understands that we must fix an economy in America that is rigged and that sends almost all new wealth and income to the top one percent," Sanders said, listing his reasons for endorsing her. "Hillary Clinton understands that if someone in America works 40 hours a week, that person should not be living in poverty."

"Furthermore, she wants to create more jobs, she wants to recover our infrustructure, our roads, our water channels," he continued.

"If Trump is elected, we wouldn't see an economic increase," Sanders remarked. "If anyone out there thinks that this election is not important, take a moment to think about the Supreme Court justices that Donald Trump will nominate, and what that means to civil liberties, equal rights and the future of our country."

"In these stressful times for our country, this election must be about bringing our people together, not dividing us up," Sanders said. "While Donald Trump is busy insulting Mexicans, Muslims, women, African Americans and veterans, Hillary Clinton understands that our diversity is one of our greatest strengths."

Hillary Clinton in her turn, accepting the endorsement, said she was happy to be working with someone who has energized the primary process. Clinton also hailed Sander as a warrior for liberal issues.
