MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Mramor said the reasons for his decision to step down were "exclusively personal," as quoted by the Slovenia Times newspaper.
The 62-year-old said he was planning to resume his academic career. He said he was pleased with his legacy, including the country's improved credit rating and reduced budget deficit.
This announcement comes a week after Slovenian police raided the headquarters of the nation’s central bank on suspicion that it unduly labeled bonds as bad loans in 2013 to avoid making payments on them.
