KIEV (Sputnik) – The Ukrainian Supreme Economic Court upheld Wednesday the legality the decision of lower courts to return Russia’s energy giant Gazprom its claim to the Anti-monopoly Committee of Ukraine (AMC) regarding a fine of over $3 billion, a RIA Novosti correspondent reported.
"The decision of the Kiev Economic Court on April 13, 2016 and the decision of the Kiev Economic Court of Appeal on May 18, 2016, in this case remain unchanged," the court said.
In January, the AMC fined Gazprom 85 billion hryvnia ($3 billion) for abusing its market monopoly. Gazprom challenged the fine in the Kiev Economic Court. The case was struck out and subsequently an appeal was lodged in a higher court.
