WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Voters with an interest in politics are facing a difficult four-month period between now and the US presidential election because they are already worn out by media coverage of the campaign, the Pew Research Center said in a report.
"About six-in-ten Americans (59 percent) feel exhausted by the amount of election coverage, while 39 percent say they like getting a lot of coverage about the election," the report stated.
Among those who do not follow election news all that closely, 69 percent say they are too worn out to pay attention, the report explained.
Nevertheless, exhaustion does not imply that interest in the election itself is low, the report pointed out.
Instead, voters are simply tired by an excessive focus on topics such as candidate’s personal lives and moral character instead of respective stances on issues, the report added.
