The US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) is preparing for the launch of the SpaceX Dragon cargo spacecraft to the International Space Station (ISS).

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) – The launch, to be carried out using the Falcon 9 rocket, is scheduled to take place on Monday, July 18, 12:45 a.m. (04:45 GMT) local time from the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida.

According to NASA, the Dragon spacecraft will bring the first of two international docking adapters to the ISS, as well as a space-based DNA sequencer which has the potential to identify microbes, diagnose diseases and evaluate crew member health.

The sequencer can also help detect DNA-based life in other parts of the solar system.

If the resupply mission fails on launch on Monday, the next attempt will be made on Wednesday, July 20, according to NASA.
