WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Trump was reportedly impressed with Pence's "calm demeanor" and political experience, The Hill reported, citing a Republican with direct knowledge of the selection.
Trump, along with his son, daughter and son-in-law, were set to meet with Indiana Governor Mike Pence at his home on Wednesday, according to local media.
Pence served in Congress from 2001 to 2013, and headed the conservative think tank Indiana Policy Review Foundation from 1991 to 1994.
Pence reportedly converted to evangelical Christianity in college and changed his political views because he was inspired by Ronald Reagan's economic beliefs, according to the US News and World Report.
