MOSCOW (Sputnik) — According to Gallup Korea research company's survey, those who support the move, claimed it would step up national security.
A total of 32 percent of those interviewed said they were against the move, citing the prospect of spoiling relations with Russia and China, the poll showed.
The pollster interviewed 1,004 people between July 11 and 14.
Last week, South Korea and the United States announced they agreed to deploy the system to counter North Korea's missile threat. Thousands rallied against the decision.
The THAAD system is designed to intercept short, medium and intermediate ballistic missiles at the terminal incoming stage.
