"I have directed my team to be in touch with French officials, and we have offered any assistance that they may need to investigate this attack and bring those responsible to justice," Obama stated on Thursday.
The United States Department of State does not have any information on injuries to US citizens after the attack yet, but is staying in touch with local authorities, according to the Deparment official.
"We have no information at this time that US citizens were injured or killed in the attack today in Nice. We are in contact with local authorities and are seeking more information," the official told Sputnik.
The US Consulate General in Marseille, France told American nationals in Nice to exercise caution, according to the Consulate emergency message.
"We urge US citizens in Nice to contact family members and loved ones to notify them that you are safe, avoid the area, to monitor local press for updates and to exercise caution if you are in the vicinity," the message says.
