Russia’s legendary Aurora cruiser is one of the Pallada-class cruisers which participated in Russo-Japanese war in 1904-1905. In 1917, a blank shot from Aurora's forecastle gun signaled the start of the Winter Palace storm and beginning of the October Revolution. Currently Aurora is preserved as a museum ship and in 2016 it was finally opened after an extensive renovation.
On July 15, 2016, the restoration works were finally completed and the cruiser was returned to its permanent mooring at the Petrovskaya Embankment in St. Petersburg.
The cruiser was equipped with new fire-fighting systems and alarms, its watercraft hull was painted, its historic interior restored and a new video surveillance system was also installed.
As a museum ship, Aurora attracts many tourists in St.Petersburg. Now it is renovated and opened for to the public once more.
