MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The ministry noted that the operational headquarters were established to monitor the transport situation amid the crisis in Turkey.
"Following the instructions issued by the government, the Ministry of Transport took all the necessary measures to ensure <…> safety of air and maritime transport," the statement reads.
Earlier, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev gave instructions to ensure transport safety.
In the early hours of Saturday morning the Turkish government came under siege by a faction of military forces who sought to end President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's rule, claiming that the leader drifted away from the country's long-held secularist values.
