US police detained and put in custody the hostage taker who attacked a Burger King restaurant in Baltimore, Maryland, after some five and a half hours, local media reported on Sunday, citing police.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Earlier on Sunday, a rape suspect escaped police agents as they tried to arrest him and hid in the restaurant holding four people against their will there, The Baltimore Sun said.

All released hostages are safe and sound, the newspaper adds.
