WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The US-led coalition of more than 60 nations has been carrying out airstrikes against the Daesh in Syria and Iraq since the summer of 2014.
"Near Manbij, 11 strikes struck eight separate ISIL [Daesh] tactical units and destroyed 22 ISIL[Daesh] fighting positions," the release stated on Monday.
An additional airstrike near the Syrian city of Abu Kamal destroyed two Daesh oil wellheads, the statement noted.
Coalition airstrikes on Sunday also targeted Daesh positions near seven Iraqi cities, where 11 strikes coordinated with the government of Iraq destroyed the terror group’s units, tunnels, mortar and rocket systems and fighting positions.
The terror group, also known as Daesh in Arabic, is outlawed in the United States, Russia and many other nations.
