NEW YORK (Sputnik) — Earlier in the day, a malfunction led to a nearby crane collapsing on the Tappan Zee Bridge. The collapse forced all lanes along the I-87 highway to close.
We want to do structural inspection of the bridge. Until that is done, we’re not comfortable reopening the bridge to traffic. (1 of 2)

There were no serious injuries as a result of the collapse, Cuomo added.

The malfunction occurred in one of 28 cranes currently constructing an adjacent bridge expected be complete in 2018.
