MOSCOW (Sputnik) — According to the national Spending Review presented in 2015, London planned to allocate an additional 8.4 billion pounds (some $11 billion) by 2020-2021, but an audit conducted by the Committee found that the government only increased health funding for this period by 4.5 billion pounds in real terms.
"While the NHS has been treated favourably in comparison with other departments, the funding allocated for the NHS in the Spending Review is less than would appear to be the case from official pronouncements," the report reads.
According to the report, the Committee called on country's government to present its funding commitments more clearly. The government has broken its pledges on NHS funding and is misleading the public about how much extra money it's actually putting into the health service, a committee of MPs has said.
The NHS is the United Kingdom's publicly funded health care system. It comprises NHS England, Health and Social Care in Northern Ireland, NHS Scotland and NHS Wales.
