CLEVELAND (Sputnik) — King went on to praise a short list of names that give him "confidence" in the crafting of Trump's foreign policy.
"The first thing is to put good people around him and I am seeing that happen to a degree," King said on Tuesday when asked about Trumps inexperience in conducting foreign policy.
Trump’s top foreign policy advisor is Sam Clovis, a retired US Air Force colonel turned professor and conservative Tea Party radio host in Sioux City, Iowa.
Dr. Walid Phares, an anti-terrorism expert and former advisor to US and foreign governments, is helping guide Trump’s Middle East foreign policy.
"These are all people I can do business with. These will be, hopefully, the people who would be advising a future President Trump," King said at the outset of the second day of the Republican nominating convention.
Trump has worked in business, real estate and entertainment for more than 40 years, but has no formal foreign policy experience. He began his political career in late 2015 when he announced his intent to run for president.
