UK National Archives Release Series of Top-Secret Files of 1986-1988
23:01 GMT 20.07.2016 (Updated: 09:54 GMT 16.02.2023) The UK National Archives released Thursday a series of top-secret documents and investigations of the country’s government covering the main events, topics and issues in 1986, 1987 and 1988.
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The releases deal with issues such as the government’s response to AIDS, and the Cold War, the United Kingdom’s relations with Poland, then a USSR satellite state, and the 1988 visit of then-Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher to the country.
They also concern intra-UK political issues such as the Profumo affair, the operations of the country’s security services, immigration and relations between the government and the media amid and following the Falklands conflict.
