According to police reports, Nicholas Fernandez, 29, has been arrested on a charge of voyeurism.
A TSA special agent witnessed Fernandez taking a break from the security checkpoint and following a woman to the airport escalator, where he reportedly turned on his phone's flashlight and appeared to take a video. The report notes that Fernandez is suspected of having taken inappropriate photos of women on his phone for some time.
Police arrested Fernandez, setting bail at $7,500. An agency spokesperson said the employee has been removed from his duties and suspended without pay.
"TSA does not tolerate illegal, unethical or immoral conduct," a spokesperson said in a statement.
This is not the first incident involving inappropriate behavior by TSA employees. Recently, two TSA screeners were fired after the agency discovered they were involved in groping male passengers in the security line. According to reports, a male employee enlisted the aid of a female employee so he could arrange to pat down attractive male passengers. No charges were filed against the fired employees, as no victim has come forward.
