On Tuesday, the Republican National Committee (RNC) voted officially, awarding the casino owner with 1,725 delegates. His nearest competitor, Texas Senator Ted Cruz, received 475.
Thursday night, Trump will officially accept the position, delivering a much-anticipated speech. But an alleged draft has been viewed by Politico, and offers a sneak peek at Trump’s prepared remarks.
"I have no patience for injustice, no tolerance for government incompetence, no sympathy for leaders who fail their citizens. When innocent people suffer, because our political system lacks the will, or the courage, or the basic decency to enforce our laws – or worse still, has sold out to some corporate lobbyist for cash – I am not able to look the other way," the draft reads.
Describing a broken system, Trump makes the claim that "I alone can fix it," following up with a statement of Trump’s intention to crack down on "lawlessness."
"The first task of our new administration will be to liberate our citizens from the crime and terrorism and lawlessness that threatens our communities," it reads.
Trump blames this lack of order on his presumptive Democratic opponent, Hillary Clinton.
"America is far less safe – and the world is far less stable – than when Obama made the decision to put Hillary Clinton in charge of America’s foreign policy," the draft claims. "I am certain it is a decision he truly regrets. Her bad instincts and her bad judgement – something pointed out by Bernie Sanders – are what caused the disasters unfolding today."
Trump is expected to deliver his speech at approximately 10:00 p.m. (2 a.m. GMT), local time.
