MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The European Union is 20-40 years behind the United States in the field of defense innovation, what is partly because of the European Defense Agency, Fallon noted.
"We see huge opportunities here [in the defense sector] for innovation and further matching the kind of success you’ve [the United States] had over here," Fallon was quoted as saying by the Defence News outlet Thursday.
Fallon also said he was looking forward to boosting cooperation between the United Kingdom and the United States in tech development.
On June 23, the United Kingdom held a referendum to determine whether or not the country should leave the European Union. According to the final results, 51.9 percent of voters, or 17.4 million people, decided to support Brexit, while about 16.1 million opposed it.
