MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Brazil's National Nuclear Energy Commission's (CNEN) personnel will work at venues during the Olympic games in Rio de Janeiro to prevent terror attacks and risks of radiation exposure, security coordinator for Olympic and Paralympic Games in Brazil Lilia Belem told Sputnik.
"In case we suspect [use of] dangerous substances, we have specially trained units of firefighters, as well as units of chemical and biological and radiological protection, that will be additionally strengthened by military units and National Guard's forces, which will be constantly on duty near Olympic venues," Belem said.
Furthermore, the CNEN together with the country's police will work to prevent the use of so-called dirty bombs, or radiological dispersal devices, which combines radioactive material and explosives.
