MOSCOW (Sputnik) — According to the China Daily newspaper, floods provoked landslides smashing nearly 53,000 houses and destroying over 700,000 hectares of crops.
Reportedly, some 310,000 people were evacuated from the flooded area.
The province's economy suffered losses worth over 15 billion yuan ($2.2 billion), the media outlet added.
Floods triggered by torrential rains started in June and are reportedly the worst since 1998.
