The decision by the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) to start suspension proceedings against the Russian Paralympic Committee (RPC) is politicized and contradicts Paralympic values, RPC Executive Committee member Sergei Shilov said.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The IPC said Friday it had opened suspension proceedings against the RPC in light of a report accusing Moscow of overseeing a state-wide doping program.

"The decision of the International Paralympic Committee is politicized and has absolutely nothing to do with the sports or the Paralympic values. And it absolutely lacks a sports component," Shilov told R-Sport.

Following the release of the WADA report, the International Olympic Committee said that it would consider a collective ban for the entire Russian team.
