Former New York Mayor Bloomberg to Endorse Clinton
Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg is set to endorse presidential candidate from Democratic Party Hillary Clinton at the Democratic convention, despite not being a member of the party since 2000, local media reported Sunday, citing an adviser to Bloomberg.
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — According to The New York Times newspaper, the decision reflects Bloomberg’s dismay over the rise of controversial Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump. A former Republican party member, Bloomberg reportedly believes that Clinton is the best choice for moderate voters in 2016.
“This week in Philadelphia he [Bloomberg] will make a strong case that the clear choice in this election is Hillary Clinton,” Howard Wolfson told the paper.
Bloomberg is expected to speak at the convention on Wednesday, the same day as President Barack Obama and Vice President Joseph Biden, the paper reported.
The Democratic National Convention runs Monday through Thursday, culminating in the acceptance of Hillary Clinton as the Democratic Party’s presidential nominee.
