MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Speaking on The Andrew Marr Show McLoughlin said "Oh yes" when asked whether the Article 50 will definitely be triggered before the General Election.
“Once Article 50 is triggered then there is a two-year, a maximum two-year process… It may be sooner than that, that will be part of the negotiations which the Prime Minister is leading,” he said.
McLoughlin also noted that it would be difficult to call an early general election in the country, but the Brexit process would be started before then.
On June 23, 51.9 percent of UK voters, or 17.4 million people, decided to support Brexit, while about 16.1 million opposed it.
