Moscow is a city of contrasts. Residents and visitors can always get a break from megapolis life by looking at it from above. Up there a totally different picture of the nation’s capital emerges. Seven legendary skyscrapers, the so-called “Seven Sisters" designed in the Stalinist style, are something not to miss.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs currently houses the offices for ministers for the Russian Federation. In 1947, the second proposal regarding its construction was accepted, but according to the Ministry’s request a metal spire was added to the tower’s roof, to match the surrounding architecture.
Radisson Royal is high-class luxury hotel in Moscow's city center. It is one of the highest buildings in Moscow, standing along the river bank. Guests are offered a ride on one of Radisson's famous river cruisers, where they can enjoy classic music and amazing food while admiring Moscow’s unique landmarks.
The Red Gates Administrative Building was designed by Alexei Dushkin of Moscow Metro fame. Here cryotechnology (technology involving very low temperatures) was used to build tunnels, which connect the building with the Krasniye Vorota metro station.
Moscow State University was placed on the edge of Sparrow Hills with potential landslide hazard. At the bottom the university is underpinned by a refrigerator that stops the building from sinking down. In the worst scenario, if the refrigerator stops working, the building’s foundation will mire in the swamp.
Hilton Moscow Leningradskaya Hotel is one of the oldest buildings in modern Moscow. After a busy long day, visitors have a chance to relax in a dry sauna, dip into the heated indoor pool and visit a modern high class gym, and after which enjoy delicious meal at its restaurant.
The Kotelnicheskaya Embankment Building is one of the seven sisters built in Stalinist style in 1952. It was intended to be an elite residential accommodation but became multi-family communal apartments. However, in modern times, it returned back to its original idea and only rich families can now afford to buy an apartment there.
The Kudrinskaya Square Building was built in 1954 with high-end apartments, primarily intended for Soviet cultural leaders only. Currently wealthy Russians live in the building.
