MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Earlier in the day, head of the governing Justice and Development Party (AKP) Binali Yildirim, chairman of the Republican People's Party (CHP) Kemal Kilicdaroglu and leader of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Devlet Bahceli met with Erdogan in a historic meeting, as all three main parties leaders came together for the first time in the presidential palace to express a united stance against the recent coup attempt.
"This shows that problems in Turkey will not be resolved easily and they have not understood yet what the coup plotters are trying to do," Demirtas told journalists, as quoted by Hurriyet.
According to the him, the parties will be unable to solve the Kurdish issue if HDP is excluded from discussions.
"What triggered the coup is an approach that left [the resolution of] the Kurdish issue to soldiers and the army," Demirtas added.
The pro-Kurdish HDP suffered another blow in June, as the Turkish parliament ruled to strip a hundred legislators, mostly of opposition factions, of parliamentary immunity.
