MOSCOW (Sputnik) — According to the survey, Poroshenko, leader of the Batkivshchyna party Yulia Timoshenko and chairman of the Self Reliance party Andriy Sadovyi would be the leading candidates, if presidential elections took place in Ukraine at the moment. However, general support for elected officials is far from being high, as some 86 percent of those polled do not trust political parties or social institutions.
The results of the poll, presented at a press conference by prominent Ukrainian researches on Sunday, showed that Poroshenko does not command a high level of public trust — as some 70 percent of those surveyed said they do not trust him. The distrust list is headed by Oleh Tyahnybok, the leader of the far-right Svoboda political party, whose distrust rate has reached 72.6 percent.
Poroshenko was elected in the 2014 early presidential elections following the overthrow of then-President Viktor Yanukovych. Poroshenko received 54.7 percent of the popular vote.
