MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) President Alexander Zhukov said Monday eight of the athletes selected to compete at next month’s Rio Olympics had prior issues with doping.
“Athletes who had a history of doping, according to my information, to date there are eight athletes. Next we need to pass on all the information regarding these athletes to international federations as soon as possible,” Zhukov said.
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) ruled on Sunday to allow clean Russian athletes take part in the August 5-21 games in Brazil. The ROC approved last week a 387-member national team for the Olympic Games, including the 68 track-and-field athletes banned by the international athletics federation from international competitions.
