Turkish Authorities Issue Detention Warrants for 42 Journalists

Detention warrants have been issued for 42 journalists in Turkey, local media reported Monday.

ANKARA (Sputnik) — The reporters are suspected of having links to opposition cleric Fethullah Gulen, accused by Ankara of masterminding the recent military coup attempt, according to Turkish broadcaster NTV.

On July 15, the failed coup attempt took place in Turkey and was suppressed the following day. Over 240 people were killed and more than 2,000 injured during the failed coup excluding the victims among the plotters, according to the country's authorities.
