MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Last week, the US Department of the Treasury imposed sanctions on three al-Qaeda senior members that it claimed were currently located in Iran.
"The Islamic Republic of Iran does not have any information at hand regarding presence of the individuals in its territory," Qassemi told reporters, as quoted by the IRNA news agency.
Last month, the US State Department said in a report that Iran's "sponsorship" of terrorism was a "significant threat" to the stability of Lebanon and the broader region. According to the report, in recent years, Iran's sponsorship of terrorism has become particularly active, and was being carried out through the Quds Force, a special unit of Iran's Revolutionary Guards, intelligence services and the Lebanese Hezbollah movement.
