Moscow carefully avoids any actions, words that can be interpreted as interference in the electoral process, according to Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Russia scrupulously avoids any words and actions that can be interpreted as its interference in election campaigns, including one underway in the United States, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Wednesday.

"[Russian President Vladimir] Putin has said repeatedly that Russia has never interfered and does not interfere in the internal affairs of other countries, especially in electoral processes. Moscow carefully avoids any actions, words that can be interpreted as interference in the electoral process," Peskov told reporters.

Asked to comment on US President Barack Obama’s remarks that "anything is possible" pertaining to accusations of Russia’s role in the email hack of the Democratic National Convention (DNC) to favor the opposition, Peskov reiterated the Republican camp’s dismissal of the claims.

"Hypothetical reasoning in this case does not indicate a constructive approach," he stressed.
