The Committee to Protect Journalists called on July 26 on the Turkish authorities to stop the detention of journalists.
The media purge in Turkey followed the July 15 military coup attempt, which was suppressed the following day. After the coup attempt, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced a state of emergency in the country.
Over 13,000 people have already been detained in connection with the coup attempt.
