KIEV (Sputnik) – Russian gas through Ukraine has fallen on average by 200 million cubic meters to 150 million cubic meters per day, the president of Ukraine’s Ukrtransgaz transportation system operator said Thursday.
“If technical bids averaged 200 million per day on average this year, then they plummeted without explanation from Russia to 130-140, it is a matter of concern. Transit has grown to 150 million today. Russia technically explains this is due to repairs along their grids. The second reason that may be is the over-saturation of the European gas market," Igor Prokopiv said at a press conference.
He forecast gas transit volumes to the European Union this year at 70 billion cubic meters earlier.
Andriy Kobolev, CEO of Ukraine's national energy company Naftogaz, said earlier Kiev appealed to Brussels after claiming that Russia lowered gas pressure along the transit pipeline.
