MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Russian four-time world champion swimmer Yulia Efimova has filed an appeal at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) over her doping-related ban on participating in the upcoming 2016 Summer Olympics in Brazil, the Russian Swimming Federation said on Sunday.
Earlier, the International Swimming Federation (FINA) said that Efimova, among seven other Russian swimmers, is not eligible to compete at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games as she does not meet "clean athlete" criteria established by the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
"Efimova's personal appeal has been submitted, her personal lawyer Artem Patsev has confirmed this fact," the federation's press service told R-Sport.
The swimmer's agent Andrei Mitkov on Monday said that she is ready to file the appeal.
