"We are speaking about such a serious challenge that we must overcome even the greatest barriers and differences between us. Dialogue, dialogue and once again dialogue – it is not easy and it will not be easy. We must overcome mutual distrust and many other things but the aim is vital. We must search for and find a way to ensure peace and security," Pahor said at a memorial ceremony devoted to the 100th anniversary of the Russian chapel.
Terrorism causes the feelings of concern and alarm, the Slovenian president added.
"The problem of radical terrorism consists in its mercilessness, senselessness and pointlessness. This violence has no specific political program that could become a subject of talks or [turn into a platform to] find a peaceful solution… That irrationality is something new and this is the most alarming. However, we will not give up. We will find new innovative means for ensuring peace and security responding to the new forms of extreme and cruel terrorism," Pahor stressed.
The Slovenian president made the remarks during his meeting with Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in the Slovenia’s capital of Ljubljana.
The presidents took part in a memorial ceremony commemorating the centenary of the erection of the Russian chapel at Vrsic Pass and attended the unveiling of a monument to Russian and Soviet soldiers who fell in Slovenia in World War I and World War II, according to the Kremlin’s press service.
