Argentina’s former President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner said Monday she believed she deserved a Nobel Prize for how she contributed to the economy of the country.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Fernandez blamed President Mauricio Macri for a deepening recession and almost 50-percent inflation in Argentina.

Kirchner is accused of defrauding the state of over $5 billion. She allegedly manipulated the central bank to set an artificially low rate for dollar sales on futures markets. The central bank's president, Alejandro Vanoli, and former Economy Minister Axel Kicillof were charged alongside the nation’s deposed leader in May.

Earlier in July, Argentina's federal judge Claudio Bonadio ordered to arrest all of Kirchner's assets.

"We inherited the country in default and we left it without any debt… They should give us a Nobel Prize in economics," Fernandez said in an interview with the C5N television channel.
