MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The Russian Airborne Forces plan to incorporate electronic warfare and unmanned aerial vehicle units by the end of the year, Airborne Forces Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Nikolai Ignatov said Monday.
"We plan to complete the year by forming intelligence units, tank companies in the air assault divisions, as well as a drone company and electronic warfare companies," Ignatov said ahead of the 86th anniversary of Airborne Troops Day celebrated on August 2.
He said the Airborne Forces, one of the five branches of the Russian Armed Forces, planned to attract up to 3,000 contract service troops by year-end.
