Russian Education and Science Minister Dmitry Livanov said Monday that the government would do everything necessary to increase the number of jobs in science.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Earlier media reports suggested that the ministry was planning to fire 8,000 scientists by 2019 due to the cuts in funding.

"In the course of the budget process we will do everything to ensure that the number of jobs for researchers in science is not reduced, but increased," Livanov told Rossiya 24 broadcaster in an interview.
