MOSCOW (Sputnik) — This comes after a ruling in April that the Australian-run detention camp was holding some 900 migrants illegally for trying to cross into the country by boat, The Sydney Morning Herald reported.
The Australian government has been given until Thursday to come up with a resettlement plan and present it to the Papua New Guinean authorities.
Australia’s Immigration Minister Peter Dutton said the country would not take in people who tried to come illegally, adding the Supreme Court’s decision was an issue primarily for Papua New Guinea’s government.
