Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) dismissed the appeal by Daniil Andrienko and 16 other rowers against the World Rowing Federation (FISA) decision to deny them entry to 2016 Rio Olympic Games, CAS said in a press release Wednesday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — According to the statement made by the IOC, the main focus of the committee is the absolute "cleanliness" of athletes as the main criterion for their involvement in competitions.

CAS Upholds Suspension of Russian Weightlifting Federation

At the same time, the IOC decided not to grant accreditation to representatives of the Ministry of Sports of Russia.

"Daniil Andrienko and 16 other rowers vs. World Rowing Federation (FISA) and IOC: a hearing took place on 2 August 2016. The Panel in charge of it decided to dismiss the application considering that the FISA decision to deny the entry of these athletes in the Games was in accordance with the IOC decision of 24 July 2016 setting forth the criteria for the admission of the Russian athletes," the press release read.
