MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The Emirates airline passenger jet caught fire on hard landing at the Dubai International Airport, the head of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority (DCAA) and CEO of The Emirates Group, Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, said Wednesday.
“The fire broke out on board the Emirates airline after its destruction, and not before it,” Al Maktoum told reporters, saying there are no problems with the aircraft’s technical condition.
Al Maktoum confirmed earlier reports that 10 people have been hospitalized with light injuries. The Gulf News outlet said the people have been treated for smoke inhalation and minor injuries.
The General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) launched an investigation into flight EK521's crash-landing at the Dubai airport five minutes before the aircraft's scheduled landing. The plane was carrying 282 passengers and 18 crew members from south India's Thiruvananthapuram to Dubai.
