NEW YORK (Sputnik) – Tarasov added that Yaroshenko himself welcomed a potential prisoner swap with the United States that would result in his return to Russia.
"Mr. Yaroshenko is also a good candidate for being considered for the prisoner transfer. He is the first Russian national to be arrested in a third country by the U.S. operatives and taken to stand trial in the United States. In addition, he has been subjected to acts of torture," Tarasov stated.
"We welcome Russia's efforts to get Mr. Yaroshenko back to Russia," Tarasov said. "Hopefully, Mr. Yaroshenko will be transferred to Russia.
