The list details senior salaries in relevant quangos and the total remuneration of relevant posts in local government. It provides the most comprehensive picture of the cost of employing public health top brass that has ever been produced.

The list includes 325 individuals employed in public health who received remuneration of over US$133,000 in 2014-15, 43 of which had total remuneration over US$200,000. There were at least 105 public health employees in local government with total remuneration of over US$133,000 in 2014-15.
Jonathan Isaby, Chief Executive of the TaxPayers' Alliance, told Sputnik:
"The pernicious influence of the public health lobby has spread ever wider in recent years, with health quangocrats pushing for more regulations and higher taxes that hit families and businesses. Not only do the patronizing diktats and demands of these unaccountable quangos raise household bills, but taxpayers are also paying for the enormous remuneration packages of hundreds of meddling busybodies, many of whom have obscure job titles."
"Instead of constantly capitulating to the High Priests of the Nanny State by introducing more rules and higher taxes, politicians should instead encourage education, physical activity in schools and more personal responsibility," he told Sputnik.
Because of the rise in health lobbying in the UK, there are more quangos involved in healthcare apart from doctors, nurses and the National Health Service. The Health and Social Care Act 2012 returned many health functions to local government, where there are many Directors of Public Health on salaries of over US$133,000.
A Director of Health and Wellbeing earns US$235,000, a Director of Communications earns US$136,000 and "Director of Commissioning — Healthy Lifestyles" earns US$253,000, according to the list.
