MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Russia has sent an invitation to Latvia to attend defense ministerial consultations in Moscow in September, the Russian Defense Ministry’s Chief of the Main Directorate for International Military Cooperation, Sergei Koshelev, said Thursday.
"The corresponding note was presented to the defense attache at the Embassy of the Republic of Latvia in Russia, the same information has been sent to the chief of the Latvian Defense Ministry’s defense policy department by the defense attache of the Russian Embassy in Latvia," Koshelev said.
Koshelev said the ministry was surprised to find media reports in Latvia that its defense ministry officials have not been invited to address the Baltic republics’ military concerns at the consultations next month.
