RIO DE JANEIRO (Sputnik) – All eight Russian tennis players have been declared by the international committee eligible to take part in the upcoming Rio Olympics, the International Tennis Federation (ITF) told R-Sport on Thursday.
The ITF’s comments confirm Russian Tennis Federation President Shamil Tarpishchev’s remarks made on July 26, who said the athletes’ 205 samples submitted abroad since 2014 were not facing any complaints.
The International Olympic Committee's (IOC) three-person panel tasked with the admissions of Russian athletes is chaired by Turkey’s Ugur Erdener, and includes former IOC President Juan Antonio Samaranch and athletes commission chair Claudia Bokel.
