Turkish police have detained 20 people in the southern city of Adana on suspicion of having links to Islamists, local media said Thursday.

ANKARA (Sputnik) — Police raided 22 homes, seizing computers and electronic data storage devices, the Dogan news agency said. A police helicopter was reportedly involved in the operation.

Police rounded up the suspected Islamists and ran medical checks on them before taking the suspects to the Adana security department, where they are being questioned, according to the news outlet.

Turkey is in a state of emergency following last month’s failed coup. This gives the government wider detention powers. The country has been targeted by terror attacks several times this year, with some of them blamed on the Daesh terror group.
