Phillip Turner, known as The Battousai, was heading to Arlington to fight a ticket he had previously received over an invalid license plate, when he spotted the trooper traveling well over the 75 mph speed limit without emergency lights.
In a video posted to YouTube, Turner’s first reaction was to suspect that the officer was responding to an emergency. Changing his mind, the activist decided to pull the officer over.
“I flashed my lights and honked my horns and after a few minutes, he pulled over,” Turner told The Free Thought Project.
“The reason I was trying to pull you over is that you flew right by me,” Turner tells the officer in the video, “I mean you were going pretty fast back there. Are you in an emergency or something?”
The officer then apologized for his actions, and admitted that he had no excuse for his speeding.
“I apologize, sir, I didn’t mean to,” the officer responded.
Turner asked for the officer’s badge number, which the officer claimed not to have on him, but he did provide the activist with his name.
The two eventually went their separate ways, and Turner believes that the officer’s actions should be an inspiration for other officers.
“I will say this officer was very respectful, honest and owned up to the mistake. He was very professional and I strongly believe this is how officers should behave when they are confronted for doing something wrong,” Turner told TFTP. “However, the issue I have is that people get citations for speeding all the time I think everyone should be held to the same standards. Throughout all my encounters with police, I believe more cops should mirror his professional attitude.”
